Join us for the first inaugural FEICA Suppliers' Day virtual event for the adhesives and sealants industry. Registration is free for FEICA members. Kyle Posselt will present a technical session on Modifying Urethane Adhesives & Sealants for Leading-Edge Performance. Reactive adhesives and sealants are demanding applications that must meet a variety of specific requirements from both regulators and consumers. They must be cost-effective and achieve a desirable HS&E profile, without a trade-off in performance characteristics, including flexibility, toughness, lifespan, and ease of use. New innovations in urethane-grade modifier technology help manufacturers to meet these requirements. MODULAST® Modifiers are optimized for ultra-low hydroxyl levels, HS&E considerations, and high performance. Chain termination reactions are minimized, and urethane formulators have the opportunity to develop valuable performance characteristics – enhanced flexibility, strength, MVTR, and improved color and workability.
The annual SEPAWA Congress, produced by SOFW, is “the groundbreaking event for the detergents/cleansers, cosmetics and perfumery industry in Europe.” The event is attended by over 3000 participants from more than 60 countries. Attendees take advantage of networking opportunities, a show floor featuring over 250 exhibitors dedicated to the personal care and home care industries, and more than 100 lectures. The 2021 event is currently planned as a hybrid event, offering attendees the opportunity to attend virtually or in person.
The Western Coating Show and Congress (WCS 2021) is a North American paints and coatings trade event, with a focus on the Western USA and Canada. Kyle Posselt will present on "Delivering Performance in Low VOC IM Applications with New Multifunctional Additives". Innovations in multifunctional ingredients can boost a variety of performance characteristics in industrial coatings, while also lowering VOC. While current low-VOC coalescents can help to meet tightening regulatory and emissions requirements, they generally fail to maintain vital performance properties in industrial wood coatings, causing problems in production and end use. A new multifunctional coalescent can provide a significant VOC reduction versus traditional coalescing solvents while maintaining or improving key properties, such as hardness development, block resistance, stacking time, hot/cold check resistance and detergent/water resistance. As a multifunctional additive, this coalescent has also been found to provide additional in-can stability robustness, allowing manufacturers the ability to reduce their formula complexity and meet additional regulatory drivers.
The annual Adhesives and Sealants Council Spring Convention & Expo is the "largest gathering of adhesive & sealant professionals in North America," with "concurrent technical sessions focusing on business development and market trends, regulatory, processing/operations, market segments and new/advanced technology applications." Stephen Foster, Ph.D., will present "New Biocide Approved for Adhesives in US Market." Preservation options are constantly under attack, resulting in a shrinking palette due to new labeling regulations, market drivers, and supply chain constraints. Kalaguard SB has recently obtained full US/state approvals under EPA/FIFRA for use as an “In-Can” registered biocide for waterborne adhesive applications in the United States market. Kalaguard SB, sodium benzoate, is a mild and robust preservative with a lengthy food preservative history and is efficacious versus bacteria, yeast, and mold. The thermal and chemical stability advantages of sodium benzoate will be discussed in relation to formulation and processing. This presentation will cover critical parameters to working with acid/salt preservatives, namely pKa and pH and their impact on efficacy versus microbes. To conclude, a preservative case study of a homopolymer polyvinyl acetate resin will be presented that highlights the importance of formulating variables to obtain optimal results.
The World Adhesive Conference (WAC 2022) is held every 4 years at rotating locations around the globe, alternating between the United States, Europe, and Asia. In 2022, this important international adhesives conference returns to the U.S. It is organized by the Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC), co-organized by FEICA and ARAC. Stakeholders from across the industry―including adhesive and sealant manufacturers, formulators, suppliers, and distributors―have the opportunity to take advantage of the international trade show, networking opportunities, and conference sessions led by subject matter experts from around the world.
"The bi-annual World Perfumery Congress 2022 (WPC) is a fragrance show and conference that is "the global stage for fragrance creativity, ingredients, technology and business—providing the ideal forum for discussing the industry’s latest issues and breakthroughs.” The event, produced by Allured Perfumer & Flavorist, is an essential international event for perfumers, chemists, and fragrance manufacturers, combining a schedule of technical and education sessions, networking events, and an interactive expo."
