Kalama® Amyl Cinnamic Aldehyde (ACA) is a close relative of Hexyl Cinnamic Aldehyde (HCA). It is used extensively in perfumes, where it produces a jasmine-like floral character when accompanied by volatile chemicals of floral characters.
Acetal derivatives of ACA have shown interesting odor characteristics, with lower aliphatic alcohols forming acetals with jasmine-like aromas, and higher aliphatic alcohols forming acetals with cocoa-like aromas. Widely found in fragrances used in commercial products such as household care (detergents, fabric softeners, cleaners) and personal care and cosmetics (deodorants, shampoos, soaps), ACA is an economical ingredient that blends easily and assists in fragrance fixation.
